Snowmass Regatta

SNOWMASS VILLAGE - "Snowmobilers from 9 cities converge on area for regatta" stated the Snowmass Villager on Feb. 15, 1968. "Forty-one entrants competed for cash prizes and trophies in four events sanctioned by the Rocky Mountain Snowmobile Assn. and in contests that were strictly for fun.....Sanctioned events Sunday were the Speed Oval, with 24 individual entries, the Obstacle Race with 22 entries and the Relay Race with 32 entries-eight four-man teams. In fun events, four women entered the Powder Puff Rallye and there were seven entrants in the Treasure Hunt. Snowmass-at-Aspen Recreation Director Heiko Kuhn won the treasure hunt, with photographer Tony Gauba winning the second place."

Editor's note: This page is a partnership between the Snowmass Sun and the Aspen Historical Society with two primary goals in mind: to improve the knowledge of Snowmass history in the region and to collect historic photographs of the Snowmass region for the society.
