Parks and Wildlife honors ex-commissioner

SNOWMASS VILLAGE - Colorado Parks and Wildlife honored longtime Pitkin County Commissioner Jack Hatfield on his last day in office on Jan. 8 with a letter signed by director Rick Cables and a framed photo of a trophy-sized bull elk, according to a statement.

The letter thanked him for defending Colorado's wildlife during his time in public office.

"You have always stood up in the face of opposing views and pressures to champion for wildlife," the letter from Cables said. "Our local field officers have greatly appreciated your support and understanding. Thank you for your unwavering dedication to Colorado's wildlife resource."

Hatfield served on the Pitkin Board of County Commissioners for 12 years. Term-limited, his District 4 seat has been filled by Steve Child. Prior to that, he also had a stint on Snowmass Village Town Council.
