ASPEN - Aspen Valley Hospital has announced that Deborah Breen will be the president of its newly formed foundation. The hiring of Breen comes after a nationwide search, the hospital said.
Breen and her family most recently lived in Rhinebeck, N.Y., where she served 13 years as the executive director of the Northern Dutchess Hospital Foundation. In that position, she launched the foundation in its newly defined role as the dedicated fundraising arm for Northern Dutchess Hospital and its affiliate, The Thompson House Residential Care Facility.
"We've been consulting with Deborah for the last few weeks prior to her move here, and she clearly brings the skill set we need," said Dave Ressler, Aspen Valley Hospital CEO, in a statement. "In addition to having expertise starting a foundation - much like we're doing now - she has worked extensively with capital campaigns, major gift cultivation, annual giving, special events and grateful-patient programs. We're very excited to have her on board."
Breen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and has experience in marketing and strategic planning. She is also avid about outdoor recreational activities, including skiing, hiking, horseback riding and shooting sporting clays.
"I fell in love with Aspen and the hospital on my very first visit. I knew this was an incredible opportunity in an incredible community," Breen said. "I've only been here a week, but I know my family and I made the right decision."
