On the hill: Where to pick up a sugar daddy

ASPEN - Sometimes, as a reporter, you couldn't make stuff up that's more bizarre than the news releases that roll in through email.

Take this subject in an email for example: "New survey reveals the top ski resorts to find a sugary daddy in North America."

Before I even started reading it, my mind was asking how, exactly, do they find a sample of people qualified to answer that question? Well, we'll get to that, but first, more from the news release.

"Skiing is an expensive hobby, a luxury that is getting increasingly difficult to afford," the news release opened. "Lift tickets in North America cost on average $56 for a one-day lift pass, but the good resorts range from $70-100 for one day of skiing. That doesn't even include flights, transportation, lodging, equipment rental, ski school or food and drinks. So what's an aspiring ski bunny to do? Why, get a Sugar Daddy of course."

Of course, a sugar daddy - especially since skiing is even more expensive than $100 per day in these here central mountains of Colorado. But where oh where to find a sugar daddy?

The dating network www.seekingarrangement.com surveyed 6,500 of its members to find out. Seekingarrangement.com claims to be the world's largest dating network. It "matches wealthy men and benefactors with attractive women, who seek mutually beneficial relationships," the news release said.

So in its survey, it not only asked ski bunnies where they thought they could land a sugar daddy. It also asked its male members where the bunnies could find a rich guy. Criteria included snow and terrain quality, accommodations, apres-ski scene and accessibility.

Whistler grabbed the top spot, followed by Jackson Hole and Vail. Rounding out the top five were Deer Valley/Park City and Telluride.

Completing the top 10 were Sun Valley, Banff, Mammoth Lakes, Aspen and Snowbird/Alta.
