Snow sculpting in Snowmass

SNOWMASS VILLAGE --Pictured is one of the entries in a snow-sculpture contest held during Wintersköl 1980, displaying the theme for the year's celebration "Wintersköl

Aspen Centennial 1880-1980 Toast to Another Century." This sculpture was displayed outside of the Tower restaurant on the Snowmass Village Mall. The four snow people sitting around a table are holding glasses of wine, and a sign in front of the table says, "Toasting a New Century."

Editor's note: This page is a partnership between the Snowmass Sun and the Aspen Historical Society with two primary goals in mind: to improve the knowledge of Snowmass history in the region and to collect historic photographs of the Snowmass region for the society. If you have pieces of history to donate, please send them to archives@aspenhistory.org or call 970-925-3721.
