ASPEN - The Aspen Highlands SkiMo Race Series, a new ski-mountaineering race with both uphill and downhill components, will debut Jan. 10 at Highlands.
The inaugural four-race series will give athletes a chance to challenge themselves against fellow locals and work on individual race technique, followed by post-race beer specials at Highlands Pizza Co.
The first race begins at 5:30 p.m. Other race dates are Feb. 5 and 26 and March 12 (start times will be announced closer to the events). Each race will begin at the base of Highlands, but each course will be different and will be announced at check-in. Completing each course will take an estimated 60 to 90 minutes.
The cost is $25 per race or $85 for the series. All racers must wear a helmet.
