High alpine humor

SNOWMASS VILLAGE --In December 1978, comedian Buddy Hackett combined humor with the ceremonial ribbon cutting to open the new "High Alpine" ski lift at Snowmass ski area. It was the 12th lift on the mountain, serving at the time 100 acres of new advanced skiing terrain. Assisting Buddy were Aspen Skiing Corp. employees Jesse Caparrella, Snowmass lift manager; Jim Snobble, Snowmass mountain manager; Jerry Klatt, lift electrical technician; Tom Marshall, trail maintenance manager; Charlie Maddalone, Aspen mountain manager; and Art Pfister, Aspen Skiing Corp. board of director.
