Aspen real estate merger takes effect Friday

ASPEN - The merger of two long-standing Aspen real estate firm becomes official Friday.

Stirling Homes, founded by Bill Stirling in 1978, and Peak Properties, created in 1985 by Dale Potvin, will join forces to form Stirling Peak Properties.

"Our merger results in a team that is a perfect mix of long-term locals who have proven themselves in every aspect of Aspen real estate, are tuned in to the vibrancy of the Aspen Idea, remain devoted to the community and live the mountain lifestyle with great enthusiasm," said Stirling, a former Aspen mayor, in a prepared statement. "Even with the merging of our teams, we remain small and independent, which is increasingly rare in Aspen these days."

Potvin, a former president of the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club, said the new alliance provides the resources to "rival any large real estate agency, providing our clients with everything they need plus the personal attention they deserve."

Other principals at Stirling Peak Properties are Dawnette Smith and Layne Shea.

The four have more than 80 years of experience in the Aspen real estate market, according to a statement.
