Snowmass approves transportation budgets

SNOWMASS VILLAGE - The Snowmass Village Town Council on Monday voted to approve the revised 2012 and 2013 budgets for the Elected Officials Transportation Committee.

However, the officials voted that an added expense of $200,000 for planning of improvements to the Rubey Park Transit Center, which the Aspen City Council requested to come out of the committee's capital pool, come out of a lock box set aside to improve the city's entrance.

The EOTC is comprised of Aspen, Snowmass and Pitkin County officials. The committee had approved the 2013 budget at its Oct. 18 joint meeting, but Aspen made the request following a work session Oct. 30. After approval by the EOTC, each jurisdiction must pass its own resolution ratifying approval of the budget.

The EOTC also approved the 2012 budget at its last meeting, but with the condition that an itemized list of what comprised the increase would be provided. The Snowmass officials on Monday approved the 2012 revised budget as presented, which increases the budget for the design and engineering of the Aspen Business Center pedestrian crossing by $125,000.

The council took the vote before swearing in its newest member, Chris Jacobson. Councilman John Wilkinson participated in that part of the meeting.
