Ski-in, ski-out gets its start

SNOWMASS VILLAGE - With the opening of the Snowmass ski area in December 1967, there was a big push for guests to purchase condominiums with ski-in, ski-out access for "carefree" vacations. This image is from the front of a small fold-out sales brochure for the Willows, a condominium complex with Murphy bed options and hide-away kitchens that could be modified for the individual buyers, all part of the Snowmass-at-Aspen package for the newest resort. These style condominiums started a shift in the ski resort experience from social lodges to privately owned spaces.

Editor's note: This page is a partnership between the Snowmass Sun and the Aspen Historical Society with two primary goals in mind: to improve the knowledge of Snowmass history

in the region and to collect historic photographs of the Snowmass region for the society.
