SNOWMASS VILLAGE - The most recent Aspen/Snowmass Business Confidence Index, which surveys local businesspeople about their outlook on the local economy, measured 69.3 based on results from early November.
A reading above 50.0 indicates a positive outlook on the Aspen/Snowmass economy. The current index level is the highest it's been since B.J. Adams and Co. started conducting the survey in 2009.
While local confidence was high, responses about the national and global economy were significantly more trepid, according to Andrew Ernemann, B.J. Adams broker associate.
"Keep in mind the most recent survey was completed just prior to the November elections, so we can attribute some uncertainty to the question mark at that time about our country's leadership," Ernemann wrote in a summary about the index. "Now the 'fiscal cliff' looms large."
More than 75 percent of respondents said they feel their businesses will be stronger one year from now.
