Aspen's Hickory House preparing Thanksgiving feast

ASPEN - Aspenites can once again turn to the Hickory House for a home-cooked Thanksgiving meal.

The traditional feast is open to all for a requested donation of at least $5 to benefit the Aspen Buddy Program.

The "Hick House," as it's affectionately known, will be closed for its usual breakfast and dinner service on Thursday but open from noon to 5 p.m. for the Thanksgiving feast.

The menu, owner Paul Dioguardi said, includes 60 turkeys, 150 pounds of beef, 300 pounds of mashed potatoes, some 200 pounds of green beans and 50 gallons of coleslaw, along with stuffing, gravy and pies.

He expects about 1,000 diners to come through the doors. The buffet line moves quickly, Dioguardi said, and tables turn over fairly rapidly.

"Come when you can," he said.
