Burnt Mountain expansion begins

SNOWMASS VILLAGE - On Oct. 10, 1991, Burnt Mountain expansion was a continuing issue covered by The Aspen Times. "No Surprise, Burnt Mtn goes forward" stated an article by Madeleine Osberger. "The Aspen Skiing Company this week received unanimous conceptual approval for its Burnt Mountain submission, but the yes vote from the Snowmass Town Council came attached to a spider's web full of strings." The image, by photographer Roy Willey, shows Friends of Burnt Mountain leader Jack Hatfield, Skico planner Fred Smith, Snowmass Village Councilman Jim Hooker and resident Scott Writer checking a map outlining the proposed East Village expansion in 1991, which included plans for Burnt Mountain.
