In the early morning hours of Sept. 26, Judith Rosenberg Hoffberger, 80, passed away after a long, courageous struggle with illness. She was surrounded by her loving husband, Stanley, and her sons Jeffrey and Russell and his wife Helen.

Judith, daughter of Henry A. and Ruth Blaustein Rosenberg, was born in Baltimore and graduated The Park School and The Peabody Institute of Music. She graduated from Bennington College in Vermont in 1954 and lived in Bethesda, Md. with her husband for 22 years, then moving to Houston, Texas and Aspen, Colo.

Judith was active in cultural, business and charitable activities, having served on the boards of the Houston Symphony Orchestra, Bennington College and The Henry A. and Ruth Blaustein Rosenberg Foundations. She founded a Family Foundation to support Jewish charities and to combat the abuse and neglect of animals. Above all, she was interested in other people, always genuinely concerned about their wellbeing and ready to offer a helping hand. This was especially so where it involved her children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She was lively, intelligent, determined and an excellent judge of character.

She especially loved living in her log home in the mountains enjoying all the outdoor and cultural activities. She felt a spiritual kinship with their natural beauty.

She is survived by her husband. Stanley, her sons Russell and Jeffrey, her brother Henry A. Rosenberg Jr of Baltimore and her grandchildren, Valerie Cote, David, Chrissy, James, Simon and Jody Hoffberger.

A service will be held at The Aspen Jewish Congregation, 77 Meadowood Drive, at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18. Please omit flowers.
