The truth is, I don't actually own a cowboy hat, and if I did, I don't know if I could ever find an appropriate occasion to wear it. But in all honesty, I was there, just not on the side with the comforters, cowboys and coolers. For the entire weekend I was behind the bar, enthusiastically serving drinks alongside a group of veterans who have worked the Labor Day Festival for the past 10-plus years. And it was fine by me, because apart from the occasional drunk who asked to buy 18 beers at once, I had the opportunity to work with some great people who not only spit out drinks faster than a vending machine, but also took timeouts to help out their neighboring bartenders, like initiating much-needed "safety meetings" in between sets. Whoever you are, I hope you enjoyed the weekend as much as I did. And if perhaps you didn't, I sent a photographer to the scene to capture some memorable moments that at the very least should bring a smile to your face.
