Aspen School District, city of Aspen launch carpool program

ASPEN - The Aspen School District, in partnership with the city of Aspen's transportation department, is launching a new program to encourage parents to find carpool partners, reduce traffic and parking congestion and to help keep Aspen greener with fewer vehicles on the road.

The School Pool program invites parents to visit the and sign up for the free program. The secure school pool area on the site helps parents find carpools and receive transportation alerts and updates. It also gives participants a chance to win prizes as parents log their walk, bike, bus or carpool commutes in the system. Prizes are from a variety of local supporters, including the grand prize of a family trip to Denver.

"Not only will this program be great for our parents, but it is a good way for our students to learn about how carpooling or evaluating other methods of commuting can save time and money while helping our environment," said Superintendent John Maloy.
