ASPEN - The Roaring Fork Audubon Society and Roaring Fork Conservancy will host a morning of birding from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Maroon Creek wetlands.
Participants will meet at the parking lot of the Aspen Municipal Golf Course. The Maroon Creek wetlands are a temporary home to dozens of migratory birds during the early summer. Participants will be able to see how this constructed wetland benefits wildlife and people, according to organizers.
Attendees are encouraged to bring binoculars and dress appropriately, as the event will happen rain or shine.
The free event is underwritten by city of Aspen Parks and Open Space. Registration is required at www.roaringfork.org/events.
Other upcoming events sponsored by the Roaring Fork Conservancy include a June 2 river float from Carbondale to Glenwood Springs, a June 9 float for people 25 to 40 years old from Carbondale to Prehm Ranch, and June 14 and June 24 floats at Northstar, just east of Aspen.
