Local author pens book on spirituality

If you ask Lollie Schweitzer, many people are disenchanted with established religions and are concerned and frightened about the condition of the country, the economy, the breakdown in our systems and the state of the world.

With that in mind, the local author offers a new book titled "Liberation Through Love" in hopes of taking readers to a more peaceful, loving mindset through the process of self-awareness that helps one to recognize their own spiritual reality.

"We have lost touch with that side of ourselves and it needs to be reawakened," Schweitzer said.

The book shares personal stories and instructional commentary in an effort to help readers connect with the spiritual aspect of life as Schweitzer seeks to help readers engage their inner spirituality and recognize the spiritual elements of the world around them. The human desire for love and the human need for love is ultimately the need for spiritual awakening, she said. Love is a major force and carries a deeper meaning than we know.

"My writing shows that the spiritual existence is the natural existence of mankind," Schweitzer says. "It also describes the importance of consciously embracing the spiritual journey and in doing so, taking away the fear of something that is generally an unknown factor of life."

Intended to encourage and inspire, the book challenges readers to look within and reconsider traditional thoughts and behaviors that deny spirituality in day-to-day living. The book is based on Schweitzer's 25-year career as a spiritual counselor and longtime newspaper columnist, which she wrote for the Snowmass Sun for 10 years, on love and finding spiritual solutions to life's problems.

Schweitzer is a writer, educator and spiritual director and counselor. With her column she tried to create awareness of the spiritual essence in all of life. She has spent more than 25 years as a spiritual teacher and the book describes what she has learned through her work, the experience of living her own life and consciously practicing love in her encounters with others.

"Liberation Through Love" is available for sale online at, Explore Booksellers, Aspen Chapel Bookstore as well as other outlets.
