Aspen homeless shelter gets $10,000 grant

ASPEN — The Aspen Homeless Shelter announced Friday it is the recipient of a $10,000 grant from the Aspen Community Foundation.

According to a statement, the grant will help give the shelter additional resources to provide homeless individuals with services to assist them to moving out of homelessness and toward self-sufficiency. Over the past year, the Aspen Homeless Shelter has been granted $15,000 from the Aspen Community Foundation's general grant-making fund and Baguettes Advised Fund.

Snowboarding panel discussion is Tuesday

ASPEN — The Aspen Historical Society will present a panel discussion on snowboarding called “Members of the Board: Pioneers of Shred” at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Wheeler Operate House.

Olympic bronze medalist Chris Klug and X Games gold medalist Travis McLain will moderate the discussion.

Panel members include:

• Jeff Grell, inventor of the high-back binding and national snowboard tour director.

• Kevin Delaney, first-ever snowboarder inducted into Colorado Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame.

• Chris Karol, former professional snowboarder, founder of FAST and former Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club director.

• Susan Saghatoselami, director of snowboarding for Ski Doctors and champion snowboarder.

• Chris Tribble, snow-sports videographer who captured the birth of snowboarding at Highlands on film.

• Larry Madden, owner of first full-service snowboard shop in Aspen.
