ASPEN — Registration is under way for two local marquee endurance events: America's Uphill and the Owl Creek Chase.
The Owl Creek Chase, a 21-kilometer cross country ski race from Snowmass to Aspen, will take place at 11 a.m. Feb. 12. The event is part of the Aspen Nordic Festival, and has built a reputation for scenic views, thrilling descents and a challenging course.
America's Uphill is set for 7 a.m. March 17.
This annual Aspen tradition starts at the base of The Little Nell and climbs 3,267 feet up Aspen Mountain, finishing at the Sundeck restaurant, elevation 11,212.
The 2.5-mile race attracts hundreds of participants who use a variety of ways to get to the top — snowshoes, and nordic and telemark skis, among others.
Registration for both events is now open online at www.active.com. For complete Owl Creek Chase event details, visit www.owlcreekchase.com; information on America's Uphill is available at www.aspenrecreation.com.
