GLENWOOD SPRINGS — The Garfield County Sheriff's Office released the name of the suspect in a July 3 wildfire, which authorities said was caused by fireworks.
Anthony Mario Antonacci, 55, of 4972 County Road 113, received a summons for fourth-degree arson. He allegedly “admitted to starting the fire by accident with a firework,” the sheriff's office said in an incident report.
The fire was reported at 202 Cotton Hollow Lane, just off Cattle Creek Road, at mile marker 5. The fire burned 2 acres before it was extinguished by two helicopters from the Upper Colorado River Interagency Fire Management Unit, a special hotshot wildland fire crew and firefighters from Carbondale and Basalt.
The fire was within 100 yards of one house and about 90 homes were within 1 mile, according to Carbondale Deputy Fire Chief Carl Smith.
Antonacci is scheduled to appear Aug. 30 in Garfield County Court, according to the sheriff's office.
