Basalt firefighters responded to a two-vehicle crash Thursday on Highway 82. One driver was hurt in the collision.
BASALT — A two-car accident on Highway 82 at the entrance to Lazy Glen Mobile Home Park near Basalt Thursday slowed traffic and sent one man to the hospital.
Basalt rescuers had to extricate one man from a small SUV that was struck on the driver's side. The driver was conscious and stable, but pinned in the wreckage, according to Basalt Assistant Fire Chief Jerry Peetz. Firefighters cut the hinges off the front passenger door, then popped it off the latch to remove the man.
He was taken to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs for treatment of injuries that weren't life threatening.
The driver of the other vehicle was unhurt. Traffic on the highway was slowed for about an hour during the clean-up. Sixteen firefighters responded to help with the operation.
