SNOWMASS VILLAGE — The Chili Pepper & Brew Fest is bringing the funk into Snowmass Village in June. Funk pioneers George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic will headline the annual festival with a performance on June 5.
Also set to appear at the seventh Chili Pepper & Brew Fest are reggae icons the Wailers, who will open for Parliament-Funkadelic, and California singer-songwriter Brett Dennen, who headlines on June 4 in his only Colorado appearance of the season.
Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic — also known as P-Funk — rose to prominence in the 1970s with their operatic, psychedelic take on black urban music. The band's signature albums include “Free Your Mind ... And Your Ass Will Follow” and “One Nation Under a Groove.”
As Bob Marley's backing band, the Wailers achieved enduring international prominence. The group is led by bassist Aston “Family Man” Barrett.
The 30-year-old Dennen is a rising artist who has appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “The Late Show with David Letterman.” He headlined a sold-out 2008 show at Belly Up Aspen.
The Chili Pepper & Brew Fest also includes chili and beer competitions and tastings. Tickets go on sale Monday. For further information, go to snowmasschiliandbrew.com.
