ASPEN — Aspen Highlands was among the big winners in Sunday's snowfall, luring a crowd to the base of the Exhibition Lift before it opened Monday.
Highlands reported 13 inches of new snow over the past 24 hours in its Monday morning snow report, and 18 inches over the past 48 hours.
Aspen Mountain was reporting 7 new inches Monday and Snowmass reported 5 inches. Both mountains reported 8 inches over the past 48 hours. Buttermilk picked up 3 inches in 24 hours and 4 inches for the 48-hour period.
Elsewhere around the state, Crested Butte reported 19 inches on Monday morning and Sunlight Mountain Resort outside of Glenwood Springs picked up 10.50 inches.
Clearing skies over Aspen on Monday could give way to snow in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. The area could see 1 to 3 inches, with highs in the 20s.
The frigid temperatures and wind-chill readings of last week have moved out, and overnight lows of zero to 10 above are forecast for Monday night.
Mostly sunny skies are expected Tuesday and Wednesday in Aspen, with highs of 25 to 35.
Mostly cloudy skies are back in the forecast on Thursday and Friday, with a 30 percent chance of snow, according to the weather service.
