What are they hiding?

Dear Editor:

Now my curiosity is really piqued! Why won't City Council and the mayor allow an independent review of Aspen's last municipal election ballots? One would think that people elected, in part, to protect the voters against fraud would be more than willing to have an open review of the new system, as well as of the ballots that were cast.

It would seem that any ballot with distinguishing marks would be automatically disqualified and, therefore, could not be counted. Are there a whole bunch of these scribbled-on ballots? Have people put their initials on them? Or smiley faces?

As far as I know, no one is questioning the results of the election. So, the question is: What does City Hall have to hide?
