Aspen rescuers aid man bucked from horse

CARBONDALE — Rescuers were called to the Hays Park area, outside of Carbondale, Friday evening to aid a Snowmass man who had been bucked off his horse.

The man, Dan Oppenheimer, had reportedly suffered possible head and shoulder injuries, according to his riding partner, who called Pitkin County to summon help shortly before 6 p.m.

Six members of Mountain Rescue Aspen responded, reaching Oppenheimer at about 7:40 p.m. They determined he could be transported out on an ATV.

The team brought Oppenheimer to the trailhead shortly after 9 p.m. A Basalt ambulance was waiting at Dinkle Lake and Oppenheimer was taken to Aspen Valley Hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening, according to the Pitkin County Sheriff's Department.
