GLENWOOD SPRINGS — Three Glenwood Springs attractions are teaming up in hopes of attracting nearby day-trippers to town.

The Glenwood Hot Springs, the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park and Rock Gardens Rafting have developed an all-in-one pass, allowing people to enjoy each of the vastly different attractions.

“It's using the attractions to draw the day visitors and making it more affordable for them to come here,” said Rock Gardens Rafting general manager Ken Murphy.

Murphy said this is the first time any Glenwood businesses have joined to promote three separate attractions. However, he said it isn't a new idea.

“We always kick around ideas like this, being in a resort community,” Murphy said. “We decided this is the year to put this package together with the others, and they've been glad to be part of it.”

The adventure pass is available seven days a week for a cost of $86 for adults and $66 for children 12 and under. Tickets can be used between June 1 and September 15. The tickets are transferable and can be used on more than one visit.

Rock Gardens Rafting is coordinating all the reservations and ticket sales, Murphy said.

Tickets can be used at the Hot Springs Pool during regular pool hours of 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. The half-day rafting trip with Rock Gardens Rafting departs at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and pass holders have their pick of which to take.

At Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, visitors will receive entry to the tram ride up the mountain, where they can take in the alpine coaster, giant swing, bungee trampoline, Wild West wagon, mechanical bull, climbing wall and the new 4-D theater and laser tag. As always, a cave tour can be added for $5. However, the Adventure Pass tickets for the Glenwood Caverns can only be used between 4 and 9 p.m. daily.

The idea, Murphy said, is to draw day-trippers, especially from areas like Aspen and Vail, to come and enjoy the Glenwood attractions. He said the idea was not a reaction to the recession, but predicted it would be good for the community.

“This is not because of the economy,” Murphy said. “It's a way to promote Glenwood Springs. It's an affordable way for people to do all three.”
