GLENWOOD SPRINGS — The Colorado Department of Transportation has promoted Roland Wagner to resident engineer at the agency's Glenwood Springs office.

In his new post, Wagner will oversee highway engineering projects in the Roaring Fork Valley. He succeeds Pete Mertes, who has become CDOT's Region 3 traffic and safety engineer.

Wagner has worked as a CDOT engineer in Glenwood Springs since 2001, when he was recruited as a project engineer to work on the $100 million Highway 82 widening project through Snowmass Canyon.

He has managed several award-winning projects including the Interstate 70 Hanging Lake Tunnel emergency repairs. Most recently, he managed the Highway 133 Entrance to Carbondale bridge-widening project.
