ASPEN — The Pitkin County Library was named as one of Colorado’s seven outstanding library facilities, according to an announcement from the Colorado Department of Education.
The Library Journal Index of Public Library Service last week recognized the Pitkin County Library on its 2009 list of “America’s Star Libraries,” the department reported.
The list also includes Boulder Public Library, Douglas County Libraries, Fleming Community Library, La Veta Regional Library District, San Miguel Library District No. 1/Telluride and Vail Public Library.
The index rates U.S. public libraries with total expenditures of $10,000 or more and that serve populations of at least 1,000.
