Where has your Aspen Times been?

Recent Aspen High School graduate Morgan Boyles and Oxford professor Charles Ramble are seen here catching up on The Aspen Times in Mustang, Nepal. According to Edgar Boyles, who sent in the photo, Morgan was an assistant cameraman on a National Geographic expedition to find sacred Buddhist art in high altitude caves in Mustang, a remote kingdom of western Nepal. Dr. Ramble was the anthropologist on the expedition, which took place in August. Morgan is on a “gap” between graduating from Aspen High last May, and starting Middlebury College in February. He is currently heading to Patagonia on a mountaineering expedition. The program will air this spring as a NGS special on public television.

A group of locals headed to Brazil in November when Aspen residents Catherine Lutz and Mike Sladdin tied the knot. This photo was taken at the Ecopusada Apoena resort in Sitio Do Conde, Bahia, Brazil, the same spot where they got married. Pictured are: (down front) Josh Burnaman and Heather Rousseau, and (top row) John Spence, Katie Frank, Joe Hope, Lutz, Sladdin, Dina Bloom and Alison Berkley. We’ll note that since she’s an Aspen Daily News staffer, Catherine is holding a copy of our competition, but our columnist, Ali Berkley, is holding a copy of The Aspen Times. Way to represent, Princess.

Jeanine Cervantes sent us this photo of herself in front of the Miraflores Lockes at the Panama Canal in November, with a huge freighter ship in the background cruising through.

Paula Ponto, Marci Sketch and Kim Estock take in New York City. “Four shows in four nights,” wrote Aspen resident Kim Estock. “Six thumbs up for ‘Jersey Boys,’ ‘Billy Elliot’ and ‘Spamalot.’ Six thumbs down — waaaaay down — for Katie Holmes and John Lithgow in ‘All My Sons.’”

Residents of the Roaring Fork Valley tend to take some really great vacations, and we love to print photos of them here at Aspen Miscellaneous (the People section, for online readers).

This edition includes two photos of locals at the Panama Canal, as well as residents in Nepal, Brazil and New York City. If you want to see your own photos published, just throw a copy of The Aspen Times in your suitcase or backpack and e-mail photos to nhavlen@aspentimes.com or post them directly online in the reader photo gallery at aspentimes.com/yourphotos.

Don’t forget to identify everyone in the photo, and tell us where you were when the photo was taken. Extra credit to you if you include some details about your trip — how long were you there? Want to share any good tips on traveling there? Did you meet any natives who wouldn’t mind if we crashed on their couches when we’re in the area?
