ASPEN — Aspen Valley Hospital, Pitkin County Senior Services, and Community Health Services will offer a Senior Health Fair, for those 60 and older, on Friday. The event takes place at the hospital from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Free screenings include blood pressure, vision and glaucoma, height, weight, body mass index, peak airflow, oximetry and urinalysis. Most popular at the fair are the lab tests. The lab profile includes blood sugar, kidney and liver function, cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL, thyroid-stimulating hormone, and a complete blood count. This test requires fasting, with the exception of water. The cost is $46. Other lab tests include the prostate specific antigen for $27 and the Cardio C-Reactive Protein (a predictor of heart attack or stroke) for $35. Colorectal cancer kits are $5.
Community Health Services will offer flu and pneumonia shots at no charge to those with a Medicare card. Otherwise, they are $20 and $45, respectively.
All participants are encouraged to follow-up with their physicians after test results are received.
Cash or check only is accepted. No appointments are necessary. For more information, call 544-1296.
