Peter Wallison gives talk

OLD SNOWMASS — Peter Wallison, a former official in the Reagan and Ford administrations, will speak Monday on the global economic crisis at his home in Old Snowmass.

Wallison’s talk, “The Financial Crisis — How Did We Get Here, Where Are We Going and Why the Outcome of the Election Matters,” will start at 8 p.m. at 1880 Lazy O Road.

Wallison is the Arthur F. Burns Fellow in financial policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute. He has written articles on the financial crisis for the Wall Street Journal and other publications, and has made numerous radio and television appearances.

He is the author of “Back from the Brink,” a proposal for a private deposit insurance system, and co-author of “Nationalizing Mortgage Risk: the Growth of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.”

Among other professional experiences, Wallison served as general counsel of the U.S. Treasury Department in the Reagan administration, as White House counsel to President Reagan and as counsel to Vice President Nelson Rockefeller during the Ford administration.
