Warrant issued for alleged bottle-rocked rogue

ASPEN — A city judge has issued a warrant for the arrest of a Snowmass Village man suspected of firing bottle rockets at a woman and her infant child.

Gabriel Hooper, 32, failed to appear in Municipal Court on Wednesday to face charges of disorderly conduct and unlawfully discharging bottle rockets.

“Because of the seriousness of this issue I do request a warrant to be issued with a bond of at least $500,” assistant city attorney James True told Judge Brooke Peterson.

Peterson obliged.

Hooper was arrested July 22 after a woman minding her son at the Rio Grande Skate Park in Aspen called police to report a man she said had been shooting bottle rockets. The woman said she asked the man to stop firing the missiles, which he did, but he then fired a rocket at the woman from his truck before speeding off, according to a police report.
