Driver violates bond, goes to jail

Print Comment
ASPEN — Aspen police arrested Jesse James Coleman, 23, on suspicion of driving under the influence and driving without a license Tuesday at the Truscott Apartments.

While responding to a call of a man sleeping in his car at the affordable housing complex on the outskirts of Aspen, officers witnessed Coleman driving past them.

The officers said they knew Coleman and knew that he was not allowed to drive so they stopped him.

Coleman was out on bond on a second-degree assault charge, and the conditions of the bond were that he could neither drive nor drink.

The officers smelled liquor on Coleman’s breath and asked him to perform a roadside sobriety test, which they allege Coleman failed.

Coleman was taken to the Pitkin County jail and booked on a charge of DUI, driving without a license and violation of bond conditions. As of Tuesday he was being held on a $5,500 bond.
