Man injured in electrocution

BASALT — A construction worker was electrocuted Friday morning when he came in contact with a power line at 125 Ash Road near the Cap K Ranch, nine miles up the Fryingpan Valley above Basalt, authorities said.

The man was knocked unconscious and suffered extensive burns, according to information provided to emergency service dispatchers. An ambulance crew from Basalt was called to the scene at about 10:30 a.m.

The victim was transported to a local hospital then airlifted to a Denver facility, according to Eagle County Deputy Sheriff Rob Lawson. His condition wasn’t available. Lawson said the man was in his early 20s. His name wasn’t released.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified and was en route to the site Friday afternoon, the deputy said. Because the case is under investigation, he declined to discuss details of the incident.
