SNOWMASS — Unless you’re one of the handful of people on the planet who’ve never seen the 1997 blockbuster film “Titanic,” you’ve seen Gaelic Storm before.

There’s a scene in the movie when the characters played by Leonard DiCaprio and Kate Winslet join the Irish lower class in the depths of the ship, kicking up their heels to the upbeat melodies of a five-piece band — Gaelic Storm.

Catch them live Thursday on Fanny Hill at Snowmass.

The gig marks the first performance for the band following the release of its latest release, “What’s the Rumpus?”

The band’s seventh album is a story-based collection — a uniquely-organized musical collage inspired by the lives of the band members. Concertgoers will get a true sense of the group’s care-free attitude with songs like “Drink the Night Away” and “The Night I Punched Russell Crowe,” derived from a true story involving frontman Patrick Murphy.

A true reflection of Irish culture, this band creates and combines fresh tunes with classic, traditional Irish melodies. Their push into the mainstream can be credited to the originality of their music as well as their relentless touring schedule — nearly 150 dates per year.

Since the release of their first album reached No. 5 on Billboard’s world music chart in 1998, Gaelic Storm has been a regular on the charts. The band’s 2006 release, “Bring Yer Wellies,” debuted at No. 2, as well as No. 16 on the Internet sales chart and No. 31 on the independent album chart.

Thursday’s concert, part of the Free Summer of Music on Fanny Hill, begins at 6:15 p.m. Beer and wine will be available for purchase on the concert grounds, but concertgoers aren’t allowed to bring their own alcoholic beverages to the hill.
