Aspen Skiing Co. manager returns to work after unpaid leave

Print Comment
ASPEN — Buttermilk Mountain Manager Hans Hohl returned to work last month after he was placed on unpaid administrative leave in February by the Aspen Skiing Co.

“Hans has returned from his leave on April 7 and resumed his duties as mountain manager,” said Skico spokesman Jeff Hanle. “Anything beyond that is a personnel matter and we keep that private.”

Skico took action against Hohl effective Feb. 5 for reasons that weren’t specified.

Hohl couldn’t be reached for comment Friday. Multiple sources with knowledge of the situation said Hohl was disciplined for relations with a female employee who reported to him.

Skico spokesman Jeff Hanle wouldn’t confirm whether that woman was transferred to another mountain to work.

Hohl began working with the company in 1991 and advanced through the ranks of the ski school. He was named Buttermilk mountain manager in 2001. As mountain manager, Hohl had overseen everything from the ski school to ski patrol to mountain operations.

John Kneiper was appointed as Buttermilk mountain manager for the remainder of the season. He has been with the Skico since 1988 and most recently served as manager of the ski school and guest services manager at Buttermilk.
