Ina was born in Lafayette, La., on February 15, 1929, to David Bergeron Sr. and Annette Tate. She grew up in Dickenson, Texas, and graduated from the University of Texas nursing program in 1948. Ina moved to Aspen in the summer of 1952 to work as a registered nurse at the Aspen Valley Hospital. She later became the school nurse for the Aspen School District until her retirement.

Ina was an avid golfer and was a member of the Tiara Rado and Lincoln Park ladies golf club. She loved movies, skiing and traveling to see family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Jack McTarnaghan of Grand Junction; daughter Linda and husband Bill Martin of Manuel, Texas; daughter Jetta and husband Jeff McWhirter of Spring, Texas; grandchildren Justin Martin of Houston; Ashley McWhirter of College Station, Texas; Jack McWhirter of Spring, Texas; and brother David Bergeron Jr., of Dickenson, Texas.

A memorial service to celebrate Ina’s life will take place at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 9, at Callahan Edfast Mortuary in Grand Junction with Fr. Jerome Rykowski officiating. Ina’s family would like to thank numerous family and friends, and the Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado for their support during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate that memorial contributions be made in Ina’s honor to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, 2754 Compass Drive, Suite 377, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
