Fryingpan River flows jump again
Bureau of Reclamation sets May 12 meeting in Basalt
Print Comment
BASALT — Releases from Ruedi Reservoir were increased by 50 cubic feet per second (cfs) by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation Tuesday, and they were scheduled to go up another 50 cfs Tuesday night.

Those changes will boost the total outflow from Ruedi’s dam to 324 cfs. The addition of Rocky Fork creates the flow in the Fryingpan River of 330 cfs.

“The increase in releases is in preparation for the upcoming spring runoff,” said a statement from the Bureau of Reclamation.

“The Fryingpan River basin is showing an impressive snowpack this year and we are making sure we have room in Ruedi Reservoir to capture the melting snow. There will most likely be other changes in the next few weeks before runoff begins.”

The federal agency will hold its annual Ruedi Operations meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, May 12 in Basalt Town Hall to discuss water releases and when the reservoir is expected to fill, as well as to review last year’s operations. The public is welcome to attend that meeting.
