SUMMIT COUNTY — With one of the best snow seasons in recent memory starting to wind down, Colorado skiers and snowboarders will once again be able to choose from a smorgasbord of season passes for 2008-’09.
Many major resorts recently announced their pass pricing for next season, with the emphasis remaining on deals that offer access to multiple ski areas.
The Aspen Skiing Co., though, has yet to announce the price of its passes, good at Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Snowmass and Buttermilk, for next season. A full pass at Aspen/Snowmass this winter, at the most discounted rate available, sold for $1,239.
Vail Resorts previously unveiled its $579 Epic Pass for next season, with unrestricted access to Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Heavenly and Arapahoe Basin.
Battling back in the ongoing rivalry for the biggest slice of the Front Range pie, Intrawest cut $40 off the price of its Copper/Winter Park combo pass. The $439 Rocky Mountain Super Pass Plus offers unlimited access to Winter Park and Copper Mountain, with six days of skiing or riding at Steamboat.
The Rocky Mountain Super Pass, valid at Copper and Winter Park, is $399.
The $1,054 Rocky Mountain Ultimate Pass provides unrestricted skiing at Steamboat, Winter Park and Copper, and Intrawest is throwing in a free Ultimate Pass for kids (ages 6-12) with each purchase of an adult Ultimate Pass.
A Copper-only pass is $349, same as this season.
Arapahoe Basin is also in the mix with the $379 A-Basin Bonus Pass, good for the rest of this season. The Bonus Pass also gives skiers and boarders five days access at Breckenridge and Keystone. One of those bonus days can be used at Vail or Beaver Creek, with some restrictions.
The A-Basin-only pass for 2008-’09 is going for $309, with youth and children’s versions selling for $209 and $119 respectively.
This week, Vail also released prices for the popular Summit and Colorado passes. The Breckenridge, Keystone and A-Basin version will sell for $399. For another $40, skiers and riders can have get restricted 10-day access at Vail or Beaver Creek with the $439 Colorado Pass.
