ASPEN — R&B singer Anita Baker and vocal group the Manhattan Transfer have been added to the lineup for the Jazz Aspen Snowmass June Festival. The festival is set for June 19-22 in Rio Grande Park.
Baker, an eight-time Grammy Award winner, launched her career with the 1983 debut, “The Songstress,” which yielded the hits “Angel” and “No More Tears.” After nearly a decade off from recording, she returned in 2004 with the well-received “My Everything,” and in 2005 with “Christmas Fantasy.” Baker makes her local debut on June 20, with the Manhattan Transfer opening.
Jazz Aspen announced last week that the Brian Setzer Orchestra, Dianne Reeves, Bebel Gilberto, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and Los Lonely Boys would all be appearing at the June Festival. Also announced were acts for the Labor Day Festival, set for Aug. 28-Sept. 1, including Widespread Panic, John Fogerty, Dwight Yoakam, Yonder Mountain String Band and Jerry Douglas.
Tickets for both festivals go on sale Monday, April 7, through 1-866-JAS-TIXX (527-8499)
