CARBONDALE — The Two Rivers Drug Enforcement Team said Wednesday it arrested two men and seized almost a half-ounce of cocaine Friday in Carbondale.
Ramon Alonso Escandon Baca, 32, and Eduardo Lopez Garcia, 31, were both arrested on suspicion of cocaine possession and cocaine possession with the intent to distribute, according to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.
The Two Rivers Drug Enforcement Team, or TRIDENT, conducted the operation with the assistance of the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office and the Glenwood Springs Police Department, acording to a press release issued by the drug enforcement team.
TRIDENT officers received "intelligence of a possible drug deal" that led to the town of Carbondale, according to the press release.
"Officers observed two vehicles park next to one another in the Family Dollar parking lot after hours. One of the vehicles is known to TRIDENT officers as being involved in the buying and selling of cocaine,” the press release said. "When the driver of one of the vehicles got into the back seat of the second vehicle, TRIDENT officers made contact and placed two men into custody.”
