ASPEN — Rock ‘n’ roller David Crosby, who canceled his scheduled appearance last August in Aspen because of a respiratory infection, has rescheduled his date.

The singer, songwriter and guitarist will perform April 8 at Belly Up Aspen, in the Aspen Writers’ Foundation’s Lyrically Speaking series of events.

Tickets for the event, which includes an onstage interview of Crosby, conducted by Paul Zollo, senior editor of American Songwriter magazine, as well as song performances, go on sale Monday, March 17, at Belly Up. Tickets range from $30 for students and educators, to $150 for reserved seating.

The Lyrically Speaking series, which has included appearances by Aimee Mann, Michelle Shocked and Vusi Mahlasela, is designed to examine the writing side of the songwriting process. Crosby is an ideal figure for the series. The two- time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, having been inducted with the Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, has lived the rock ‘n’ roll life to the fullest, from jail terms and drug rehab to stadium tours and era-defining songs. But he is also an unabashed personality, who has been willing to tell all in two autobiographies, including 2006’s “Since Then: How I Survived Everything and Lived to Tell About It.”

“I certainly think he is a character,” Lisa Consiglio, executive director of the Writers’ Foundation, said of Crosby last summer. “He’s a terrific storyteller, charismatic. And he’s a little on the wild side. You never know what he’s going to say — or play.”

Crosby’s iconic songs include “Eight Miles High,” “Almost Cut My Hair” and “Long Time Coming.” A three-CD retrospective of his work, “ Voyage,” was released in 2006.
