ASPEN — Theatre Aspen has announced that Mark Martino will be the director for this summer’s production of “Little Shop of Horrors.” The organization previously announced that Adam Hunter would direct; Hunter had to cancel due to a scheduling conflict.
Martino, a former actor who has appeared in the long-running off-Broadway hits “Forever Plaid” and “Forbidden Broadway,” changed course several years ago to focus on directing. His credits as director include a Cape Cod production of the musical comedy featuring Fred Willard. Martino will also choreograph “Little Shop of Horrors.” The musical, adapted from Roger Corman’s 1960 film, is a comic horror about an alien plant with plans to conquer Earth.
Theatre Aspen’s summer 2008 season also includes the drama “Crimes of the Heart,” the comedy “Rounding Third,” and the family production “Seussical,” a musical based on the writing of Dr. Seuss.
