Theater accolades

The 19th Annual Colorado Theatre Festival was held last weekend in Idaho Springs. Well over 100 people, representing theater companies and patrons from all over the state, enjoyed the many fine performances. It was a true celebration of excellence in theater.

CMC/Aspen Stage presented the recent valley production of "Escanaba in da Moonlight." The comedic tale of the Soady family and their hunting adventures in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan was highly successful when produced at CMC Spring Valley. It was also highly successful at the Colorado Theatre Festival.

"Escanaba in da Moonlight" won first place, best actor and best set for Bob Moore. In addition, the production received the prized People's Choice Award, which was voted by the audience. Additional all-state recognition was given for directing, acting and sound design. Bob Moore won the independently judged acting competition.

This group represented the Roaring Fork Valley well. As president of the Colorado Community Theatre Coalition, I would like to encourage your citizens to patronize the work of this theater. The presence of theater like CMC/Aspen Stage in the valley adds to the overall quality of life available to us all.
