Dear Editor:
We are writing to voice our strong support for Mick Ireland in the upcoming June 5 runoff election. Mick has been labeled by his opponents as a "career politician." If some think that this is true, why is this a bad thing? We disagree with this characterization, because we know that Mick's achievements, passions and commitments have far exceeded just politics.
It seems to us that all of Mick's experiences in the political arena have made him overwhelmingly the most qualified candidate for mayor. Mick has worked hard and tirelessly for many years, on issues ranging from affordable housing, transportation, education, the environment, responsible land use and many more topics. If Mick has stepped on any toes through all these years, which of course is inevitable, it is largely because of his being willing to face the difficult issues and work toward his commitment to the Aspen community.
So, please get out and vote! Please don't be complacent about this election. We encourage everyone who voted in the first election to do so again; and to all of those who voted for Torre, please cast your vote for Mick!
P.S.: We think it would be a really cool example to have a mayor who rides a bike around town!
