Dear Editor:
When I moved back to Aspen 10 years ago after a long absence, I was frequently asked how all the changes felt to me. "They haven't moved the mountain yet" was my favorite reply, trying to be upbeat. "There used to be more Aspen trees and fewer willows," I would add wistfully. I discovered many local "old Aspen spirit souls" singing in Ray Adams' choir ... still I would have to say that there seem to be fewer of us locals around town, mostly because housing prices are so high.
Then I went to a Mick Ireland gathering, and for the first time in years, I felt encouraged because Mick is so tuned into what is essential for true quality of life, namely a healthy environment, including wilderness, clean air, less noise, fewer cars, more thoughtfulness and more locals; these are the things that make Aspen so wonderful. Please vote for Mick.
