Mick's got the right stuff

Print Comment
Dear Editor:

I am a small-time, second-home owner, nonresident: "half-Aspen." First, I've got a little sermon for you Aspenites: "Vote, for Pete's sake!"

Second, Aspen is dying from exclusivity. Some of my best friends belong to country clubs - even Democrats - but where's your team spirit?

Third, controversial Mick Ireland is the man who can turn Aspen back into an inclusive community, livable and beautiful. This process could begin at one of the joiners tables at the Main Street Bakery, including some great ordinary people, some very big deal real estate developers, some tourists and even some half-Aspen types.

Fourth, the analogy isn't perfect, but the community of Telluride got its act together on a unifying cause. Why not Aspen, led thoughtfully by the new, darn good Mayor - Mick Ireland! [?] He knows what he's talking about, and he knows how to listen. The right stuff.
