Mick, for a strong economy

Print Comment
Dear Editor:

As everyone knows, development runs in cycles. However, Aspen's downturns have been relatively mild in the past, and the current market is still holding firm in spite of the national slump in the housing market. One of the reasons for the strong housing market and the high Aspen values is the consistent growth control policy in which Mick Ireland has played a leadership role.

High-end resorts like St. Barth's, Martha's Vineyard, Laguna Beach and others all protect their environment and community and see the results in ever higher real estate values. Over development and development, which is ill-suited to the quality of the community, are a hazard to real estate values.

Mick Ireland will keep the community on the consistent course, which has benefited the economy so far, and he will do so in a balanced manner. He will protect the quality of community life, and he will in no way support policies that threaten the property values of longtime city residents.

No one has ever accused Mick of being soft on development. What is not said is that his policies have significantly benefited the property values of all who have a long-term interest in our community. For a strong economy, vote Mick Ireland for mayor.
