Got porn? The Meeting did

John Decesare's film "Ski Porn!" is straight-up "hard-core."

No plot. No portraits. Few spoken words. Just twinkling 1970s segues between footage of some of the best big air, otherworldly deep powder skiing and incredible half-pipe freeskiers going vert. Hip-hop and hard-core drown out any dialogue or live sound.

Decesare said that so many action film directors today are trying to weave weak narrative into their footage. With "Ski Porn!," he wanted to take the industry standard and "flip it" to just show the money shots.

The film screened in Aspen on Saturday as part of The Meeting, an annual ski and snowboard film fest and gathering of industry bigwigs. The event is sponsored by Nissan.

Carbondale resident Peter Olenick, who was featured in the film, said it was "just a bunch of skiers making some turns and doing some cool stuff."

And just as porn actors aren't known for their soliloquies, skiers in "Ski Porn!" light up the screen by dropping off 45- and 50-degree slopes and surfing avalanches to the bottom of the hill, or catching air so big it makes you want to look away (but you can't).

"We went everywhere to make this film," Decesare said. Filmmaking for the Hermosa Beach, Calif.-native, is about "just driving around in circles." "Ski Porn!" features everything from half-pipe competitions at events like the Winter X Games, to rail-riding in urban Japan, to the dropping down the faces of some of the highest peaks of Alaska, the Rockies and Europe.

And some of the film's "porn stars" were in the crowd. Sammy Carlson, Olenick and Simon Dumont introduced themselves onstage before the film and hung around afterward to sign autographs in the lobby.

The film festival closed Saturday night with a showing of the Aspen Skiing Co.'s "Mountain Town" and ends today with a pool party at the Sky Hotel.
